Bat tracking and box checking 20/08/2024
During this bat tracking we put bats in colourful powder to see if there were any crossings between populations of sopranos between two areas of the woodland, no crossings have ever been recorded and we are unsure why. I checked 2 bat boxes with a torch, held a sopranos pipistrelle and used an endoscope on a tree.

The target species were soprano pipistrelles, apart from the fact commons have a call of 45Khz and sopranos have calls of 55Khz other ways you can tell them apart are as follows:

-Sopranos have orange reproductive organs.
-Sopranos have orange glands.
-Sopranos have an m shaped cleft at the top of their head if you look down on their nose.
